Math - There are 4, 6, 10, and 20 sided die used for the game. There are times when you have to multiply, add, and subtract. Numbers have to constantly be checked from the character cards and you have to work out what number you need to roll using your dice to beat the player’s or monster’s card score and specifications.
Reading - This starts from the very beginning where the scenarios are written up in story form. The character cards are also written out and referenced throughout gameplay.
Story Telling - The whole game is one big story that is acted out by the various players.
Problem Solving - Throughout the game, there are scenarios and problems to solve.
Communication - You have to communicate and work out what you will both do with your individual powers and skills to achieve the goal.
Co-operation & Team Work - To win or achieve the mission goals in D&D, you have to work as a team.
Forward Thinking - The mission is set out from the beginning, so everyone needs to work out what they will do to get the job done.
Consequences - If an action fails or succeeds, then there will always be consequences. The players have to deal with these consequences and even plan to expect them and have plans to avoid them.
Tactics - Working together, planning, strategizing, all of these skills are required to play the game. They can be simple or complicated, it is up to the players. They may choose to storm the Dwarves mine or sneak in through a secret tunnel. One player may go one way and the others another, then meet at an agreed point.
Critical Thinking - You have to think critically to solve puzzles and achieve the goals of the mission. If A then B, or if you don’t do A then B will happen.
Character Creation - Create completely new characters
